Nationwide Yaz and Yasmin + Attorneys

If you or someone you love has been injured by Yaz or Yasmin, the drug injury attorneys at Aaron M. Levine & Associates can provide the legal help you deserve. The popular drug known as Yaz or Yasmin is a birth control pill manufactured by the Bayer Corporation. Yaz and Yasmin were marketed as a contraceptive. Bayer also marketed this drug for non-contraceptive purposes. This included marketing Yaz or Yasmin for premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and acne.

Unfortunately, thousands of women who took Yaz or Yasmin suffered dangerous cardiovascular or blood clot-related adverse effects. Yaz or Yasmin dangerous side-effects included an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), blood clots in the legs and in the lungs, pulmonary embolism (PE), heart attack, and stroke (CVA). In severe cases, Yaz or Yasmin can lead to serious permanent injuries, such as gallbladder removal, or death.

For over 50 years, we have successfully handled many cases involving defective drugs. Our firm represents individuals throughout Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Washington, California - across the United States. We can provide experienced and individualized representation in your Yaz or Yasmin lawsuit.

Yaz / Yasmin Blood Clots, Stroke, and Heart Attack Side Effects

Yaz or Yasmin are different from other types of low dose birth control pills (BCP). Both Yaz and Yasmin contain a progestin hormone, Drosperinone (DRSP), which is a synthetic progesterone.

On October 27, 2011, the FDA released its study findings on the risk of cardiovascular disease in combined hormonal contraceptives, such as Yaz or Yasmin. This new FDA study found that all the DRSP-containing BCPs, including Yaz and Yasmin, were associated with a significantly higher risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) compared to standard low dose birth control pills. This risk was particularly higher for women 10 - 34 years of age who were new users of low dose birth control pills. Additionally, for new users of low dose birth control pills in the age range of 35 - 55 years of age, DSRP was associated with a significantly higher risk of ischemic stroke or a heart attack.

Women who have taken Yaz or Yasmin need to be aware of the many serious and dangerous health risks associated with these drugs. The life threatening side effects of Yaz and Yasmin can occur in women with no prior history of blood clots or other cardiovascular problems.
